Arsenal responded to their midweek disasterplease in the perfect way and it was a stroll in the park, Villa park for the Gunners.
Wojciech Szczesny – 7/10
His distribution was poor and had to make a save early in the game after a scruffy clearance. Produced a great block to deny the hosts and it proved to be critical.
Calum Chambers – 7/10
The Englishman returned to the team and slotted in as right back. Got a booking and treaded dangerously at times but put in some good balls going forward.
Per Mertesacker – 7/10
Typical BFG. Had one iffy moment when Agbonlahor skipped past him but solid otherwise.
Laurent Koscielny – 7.5/10
Koz as he so often does on forwards, bossed Agbonlahor throughout the game and made some important interceptions and clearances.
Kieran Gibbs – 7/10
Good game offensively and defensively as well. His misdirected hit caused panic in the Villa box that lead to the third goal and was generally assured.
Mikel Arteta – 7.5/10
The Captain was back to his metronomic best and boasted a passing accuracy of 97%. Arteta-ish or something like that.
Aaron Ramsey – 6.5/10
Played closer to Arteta and put in a shift. But his passing and decision making was questionable, Aaron more of last season please #Welsh Jesus
Alex Oxlade Chamberlain – 6.5/10
The Ox had a good game, was involved in the first goal but he has to play better if he wants to become a mainstay in the team.
Mesut Ozil – 8.5/10
Ozil was excellent, answered his critics in their face. Scored a goal, got an assist and seemed to have his mojo back.
Santi Cazorla – 7/10
Santi didn’t produce any moments of magic but he Santied his way through the game, dribbling and buzzing around.
Danny Welbeck – 8/10
Welbeck scored his first goal for the Gunners and also played in a sumptuous ball to Ozil. Good stuff, Danny
Tomas Rosicky – N/A
Came on, ran around and was crisp in his passing.
Jack Wilshere -N/A
Was rested and couldn’t have asked for a better game to just come on and pass a bit.
Lukas Podolski – N/A
It’s time he starts games.
