The Polish international was sent off for a professional foul during the last-16 tie which saw Bayern triumph thanks to goals from Toni Kroos and Thomas Mueller.
The 23 year old headed toward the tunnel, when he produced an obscene gesture with his hand which doesn’t seem to have impressed Wenger.
“We will discipline him. We don’t agree with what he did”, Wenger told Express.
“It was a case of frustration spilling over. We are professionals. We have to master our reactions.”
A further punishment could follow from UEFA who have not yet confirmed whether they will punish the Pole or not, but he is likely to be suspended for the second leg in March as the referee Nicola Rizzoli didn’t include the incident in his report which has ruled out the prospect of a 2 match ban.
He is undoubtedly one of English football’s great characters which is why he is a fan favourite at Arsenal. His consequential gesture was an act of petulance and immaturity and the whole episode should act as a learning curve for Szczesny.
He is already seen as an Arsenal legend in the future, but he must curb his erratic moments when on the pitch, where suspensions can be incurred.
Does he deserve the ban?
