Arsenal are understood to be monitoring the situation of Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan with a possibility of swooping for him in the winter transfer window.

With the Turkish international struggling for game time having fallen out of favour with Ernesto Valverde at the Camp Nou, Wenger seems to have retained his interest in the player whom was a reported target for the gaffer last summer.

The 30-year-old was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates last summer window but new Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde wanted to keep hold of all the players he met at the club to properly asses his options ahead of his first season in charge of the Spanish giants.

Turan however seems to have failed to impress the new boss as he is is yet to make an appearance for the club this season.

With the player understandably frustrated, he is reportedly set to quit the Catalan club in January and Arsenal are said to be on alert.

According to IBTimes via Daily Cannon, Turan has finally come to terms with the fact that his future does not lie with the La Liga giants and he is allegedly looking for a move in January to a team where he can get regular football.

The report further states that the former Atletico Madrid man will sit down with his agent soon to discuss his options.

Turan has also openly admitted that his lack of playing time at Barcelona is not ideal.

“It has been a while since I played and it is not easy,”he said. “It means games become as much a mental question as a physical one.

“I want to do what the coach asks of me and form a part of a historic day like this one.”

The midfielder finally got some game time during the international break featuring for an hour against Iceland during Turkey’s 2018 World Cup qualifier, which his country lost 3-0.
