Former Arsenal winger Emmanuel Petit believes Alexandre Lacazette is under enormous pressure at Arsenal and could be moved on in the summer.
Lacazette only joined Arsenal last summer for a club record fee at the time but he has seen his status as the club’s record signing taken over by another striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who arrived last month.
After joining the club in August, lacazette began life in a positive note, netting eight goals before December, however, his form has been on the downhill since then netting just once in his last 12 games.
Aubameyang was immediately drafted into the first team to replace him against Everton and the Gabonese marked his debut with a goal.
And Petit believes the presence of a top striker like Aubameyang will put massive pressure on Lacazette, which could eventually push the French man out in the summer.
“Lacazette is under massive pressure, he said as reported by Goal.
“He needs to improve or face the exit this summer. Aubameyang’s signing tells me it might already be too late.
“Arsene Wenger’s belief in Lacazette has gone.
“After six months his statistics are not exactly tremendous.
“Auba is exactly the man Arsenal need.”
No doubt the arrival of Aubameyang would have landed some sort of psychological blow on Lacazette but it is the sort of competition you find at a top club.
Nevertheless, the summer would be too early for Lacazette to leave, I expect Wenger to find a way to pair both strikers if not all the time, most of the times and keep them happy.
