Real Madrid are willing to sell Karim Benzema, according to reports in Spain.
Benzema has been a key member of the Spanish club since he joined them in 2009 but has had a difficult couple of years and he could be moved on if the right offer comes in.
First the striker was embroiled in a sex scandal last season, which cost him his place in the France national team and now he appears to have lost his first team spot at Madrid.
According to Don Balon via Tribal Football, Madrid are willing to sell Benzema and hand the first team spot permanently to Alvaro Morata.
They claim Benzema is not a popular figure within the club and the chiefs would not regret selling him.
The Emirates is being touted as a potential destination for the striker and the report even claims we have been alerted by Madrid’s willingness to sell.
Wenger is a long-time admirer of the striker and I believe that is the reason we are being linked with him again.
Arsenal have been consistently linked with the striker in the last four summer transfer windows and it is not surprising that we are the first to be linked with him now that Madrid are open to the idea of selling him.
I’m not too sure if Wenger will be interested in the striker again considering we have enough options upfront. Many may argue that we would do better with a world class striker but I think Sanchez is showing he can be that world class striker while Benzema’s current form shows he has lost his world class status.
So I think if we must move for a striker, we should look beyond Benzema or stick with what we’ve got.
