Arsenal are ‘closing in’ on a new “record breaking sleeve” sponsorship deal worth up to £10m-a-year, according to reports, but the identity of the sponsor is still currently unknown.
The Daily Mail report that Arsenal are among 10 Premier League clubs looking for a sleeve deal next season. Reportedly the Gunners are closest, but nothing is official just yet.
This is now a bit of an ongoing saga, as Goal reported that Arsenal were close to a deal over a month ago. Those April reports claimed Arsenal’s deal would be with a Subscription Video on Demand service. In fact, the first sleeve sponsor rumours came up all the way back in February.
At the time, £10m-a-year would’ve been the largest sleeve deal in the league. Now, however, it’ll only be joint-largest, as Chelsea are also planning to announce a £10m-a-year deal with Hyundai.
Hopefully the club don’t stall for too much longer. As long as they get the deal done before announcing the new kit, they shouldn’t lose out on any revenue.
The previous deal with Emirates didn’t allow them to have a sleeve sponsor. As a result, the club probably wouldn’t have been able to add one half-way through this season anyway.
Now they can, so the sooner they get a deal over the line, the better.
