Arsenal have an advantage over Chelsea in the race to secure former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique, according to reports.
Chelsea have been heavily linked with Enrique as a replacement for under pressure boss Antonio Conte but recent reports suggests they could face competition from Arsenal.
Arsene Wenger signed a two year contract at the end of last season but his future has sometimes been thrown in doubt.
While it is unlikely that Arsenal will part with Wenger before the end of his contract, reports in Spain are insisting there is a chance of the Frenchman being relieved of his job.
Mundo Deportivo via the Daily Cannon say Arsenal are considering a managerial change at the end of the season and Enrique is high on the club’s list of targets.
The report added that Arsenal are ahead of Chelsea in the race to sign the two time La Liga winner because of the presence of former Barcelona sporting director Raul Sanllehi at the Emirates.
Enrique is currently out of management after leaving his post at Barcelona at the end of last season.
Arsenal being linked with another manager isn’t entirely surprising as Wenger’s future has constantly been up in the air in recent years.
Some Gooners believe the manager has already offered his best and be moved on but club chiefs apparently think he still has a lot to offer.
Whether they have now changed their mind about that remains to be seen but I doubt any report that the club is passively keeping an eye on a new manager.
