Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, revealed he still is in the market to sign a defender this summer transfer window.
After today’s performance against Liverpool, reports claim Wenger has stepped up his pursuit for Valencia’s centre-half defender Shkordan Mustafi but Arsenal are seeking an alternative signing in Hoffenheim centre-back Fabian Schar should they fail to conclude a deal for Mustafi this summer.
Although Mustafi ‘s agent Ali Bultu, revealed his agent has already agreed a five-year deal with the Gunners and all that’s left was for a fee to be agreed between Arsenal and Valencia.
According to German outlet SportBild, Arsenal are reportedly lining up an official bid for the £9m rated defender.
The report further claimed Valencia are interested in signing the 24-year-old as they see him as a replacement for Mustafi should he sign for Arsenal.
The Gunners are in dire need of a centre-half as Per Mertesacker has been ruled out untill December to injury and also Gabriel Paulista has been ruled out for 8 weeks to injury.
