Arsenal target Jordan Pickford has dropped a huge hint that he will remain at Sunderland beyond the January transfer window.
Wenger is reportedly preparing a shock January bid for the goalkeeper who has been impressive this season. Pickford’s form this season has been scintillating to the extent he was recently rewarded with a call up to the England national team.
Last week, it was claimed big Premier League clubs are now circling around the young man but it is Arsenal who are prepared to make a concrete move.
But the player has now played down those rumors linking him with a move away from Sunderland, claiming it’s his dream to turn out for the Black Cats.
“I could play every day if I had to,” said Pickford to the Sunderland Echo .
“I felt like the more games I play the better I’ll get as a keeper and the more mature I’ll become.
“Over the years on loan I’ve shown what I’m capable of doing out on the pitch. I’ve always thought I was good enough.
“It was just about being patient and waiting for the right time to go and show them what I can do.
“It’s always been my dream to play for Sunderland .”
Players taking to the media to play down speculations linking them to another club is a normal thing these days. But we know in the actual world, It’s difficult for players to turn down offers from big clubs and i’m sure it won’t be easy for Pickford to reject a move if we actually firm up our interest.
It remains to be seen whether Wenger will firm up his interest in January or put any move on hold for now. We’ll have to wait to find out.
