Arsenal are in advanced talks with Rangers over a loan deal for Jon Toral, according to reports.
Toral has been a Gunner since 2011 but has spent most of his time here out on loan. He joined Granada on loan at the beginning of the season but things haven’t gone as planned and has struggled for game time at the Spanish club.
The attacking midfielder is now looking to cut short his spell in Spain to join Rangers for the rest of the campaign.
Skysports via the Daily Star are claiming that the Scottish club are in advanced talks with Arsenal to sign the player.
Wenger wants the midfielder to play regularly and is hoping he can secure a move to Rangers who are being managed by Mark Warburton.
Warburton knows Toral very well, having worked with the midfielder at Brentford two seasons ago and the player would likely get more playing time under him.
Toral has already confirmed Ranger’s interest in his services but insists he is yet to make a final decison on his future.
When asked about a move to Scotland, Toral said:
“When there is interest in you from such a big club then it’s always good but that’s as much as I can say right now.
“It’s not easy to talk about it because I am still a Granada player and we have a a game to prepare for on Saturday against Real Madrid, so my thoughts are on that. But if it happens, it happens. We’ll see in the next few weeks.
“I would rather speak about this later. I think it would be disrespectful to speak about other clubs now while I’m in Granada and I’m training with them. I’m a team player here, a squad player and I don’t think it’s right to talk about other teams right now.
“If I have to leave then it’ll be different but right now I’m just thinking about the game against Real Madrid so I apologise because I can’t say too much more at this moment.”
I think a move will be completed in the coming days despite the player insisting his future isn’t yet resolved. The essence of sending players out on loan is to help them develop properly by playing regularly and Toral’s development has somewhat stalled in the last couple of weeks, a move will definitely be best for him.
