Arsenal have repeatedly scouted FC Porto striker Andre Silva in recent weeks, according to reports.
The 21 year old has been one of Porto’s star performers this season and apparently he has caught the attention of Gunners’ scouts with his fine form.
With the summer transfer window fast approaching, Arsenal scouts have been asked to keep tabs on the striker as we prepare a summer bid.
Arsenal have reportedly made signing a top striker it’s priority this summer and Silva appears to be top of our agenda. The reason isn’t far fetched as the Portuguese already has 20 goals and 8 assists in 39 appearances this season.
It’s a brilliant stat for the 21 year old, considering he was officially promoted to Porto’s first team just last season.
The striker has also impressed Wenger with his versatility. Despite his preferred position being the centre forward role, he also has the ability to play as a second striker and as a right winger.
Reports claim we first noticed the striker in the last under-20 world cup competition where he scored four goals during the course of the competition.
The idea of bringing Silva to the Emirates is sure to appeal to everyone connected to Arsenal but the problem is he currently has a £52.5m release clause in his contract, which Porto may insist we activate.
Arsenal are always reluctant to pay such exorbitant fees and we could miss out on Silva if we don’t drop that policy. Clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea and Marseille are reportedly determined to meet his release clause.
