The wait is over. Nine years and 110 mins of torture has been finally upended by a trophy. Arsenal have won the FA cup and Arsene Wenger is not a specialist in failure. It may have been the hard way but we were there in the end. The history books would read Arsenal won 3-2 coming down from 2-0 down against an unfancied Hull side.
That drought is finally over
Never mind it came against a lowly side, nor the fact that we were 2-0 down against them within 8 mins but we have won a trophy. Arsene is a success story again and Emirates finally gets a trophy. The critics would like to point out that we nearly bottled it but who cares, we have won a trophy so let’s shout and boast about our triumph till Mourinho goes into meltdown. We are no longer English football’s greatest chokers but we have scripted one of its greatest comeback. We have made history by becoming the first side since the premier league began to win in a FA cup final after going 2 goals down.
Build a team around Ramsey
The Welsh Jesus resurrected Arsenal with his umpteenth goal of the season. What a goal that was, a typical Arsenal goal and it was poetry in motion. Giroud’s back heel to Ramsey’s exquisite finish,it had beauty written all over it. You can’t help but regret what it would have been had he stayed fit all season. His drive, his energy and his tackling all helped Arsenal to register one of their famous victories of all time. What a season Rambo has had, nobody deserves more than him to score that winning Wembley goal. He has already etched his name in Arsenal’s glorious history. There is only one Aaron Ramsey.
It’s one thing to concede two within the opening quarter against Chelsea or Liverpool, but to do so against Hull was downright shambolic. It’s one thing we have to improve next season, getting off to a better start. I am not going to lament about defending our set piece, it’s within our DNA. It’s not Arsenal if they don’t make life difficult for themselves, take the life out of fans and driving them to the brink of breakdown. Thankfully this time around the climax was far better, from obliteration to exultation. Next time we are in a big game, let’s hope the game is not over within 10 mins. At least let’s turn up.
He is a winner again, nobody has taken more for the club than him and he deserves it the most. His reputation was on the line and his team finally delivered for him. A defeat would have been unthinkable, the club’s most successful manager leaving unceremoniously. Instead, he has become Special (The real special one, unlike some self anointed Portuguese)again and Gunners have started to worship him again. He has struck to his principles despite some fierce criticism and he has been vindicated. This trophy will instill that winning mentality into the club and Arsene is a specialist in success. You have made us and the club proud Arsene, we have not only ended that drought but we have made history by doing it. As they say Arsene knows.
Arsenal had 4 penalty appeals of which two were clear cut. Steve Bruce was whining about our goals, moaning that it shouldn’t have been a free kick for the first goal and a corner for the second. He is right about the second one but what about their second, Huddlestone free kick position, I am not going to whine like Bruce, but there is something that irks me, the commentators, never listen to them, sheer nonsense.
And I forgot, it’s 6 years since Spurs last won a trophy and 24 since they won the FA Cup. Come on you Gunners. In Arsene we trust.
