Arsenal are interested in signing Juventus defender Daniele Rugani, according to his agent Davide Torchia.
The Gunners spent the whole winter trying to sign a centre back but Wenger had to halt his pursuit due to limited available options.
The boss has placed strengthening the defence top of his agenda for next summer and Rugani’s agent has revealed that his client is one of the players being monitored by the club.
“Daniele’s doing well, I’m happy for him,” Torchia told Italian broadcaster Radio Sportiva, as reported by the Express.
“Arsenal? They didn’t launch any attempts for him.
“They expressed a liking for him but we have respect for Juventus.”
Arsenal were linked with Rugani in the last two summer transfer windows but Juventus reluctance to sell meant a move didn’t even come close to fruition.
However, the Italians may be more receptive to a move this time around after Rugani failed to establish himself as a regular.
It was thought that the 23 year old would step into the first team to replace Bonucci who left for Milan but he hasn’t been able to do that.
Arsenal will monitor a lot of defenders between now and the summer and Rugani will definitely be at the top due to his huge potential but another thing will be luring him away from Juve.
