Manchester United have joined Arsenal and a number of other top clubs ‘sniffing around’ Benfica 18-year-old Joao Felix, according to reports.
From reports last month, we know Felix has a £52m release clause, and Arsenal, Manchester City and AS Monaco were all scouting the youngster. Now, however, The Sun claim Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan are following him too.
The crowd of teams continues to grow, despite the fact he hasn’t even made his first-team debut yet.
The youngster is mostly playing as a winger for the Benfica B team at the moment. From that position he has five goals and five assists in 22 appearances this season.
That includes a goal against Manchester United in the UEFA Youth League, so perhaps it’s no surprise they’re following him. Not only that, but in his recent call up for the Portugal u21s Felix scored two goals in two games.
The player also recently entered a partnership with super agent, Jorge Mendes, which should mix things up a bit.
Arsenal do have one advantage over the other top clubs, as they did business with Benfica last summer. Arsene Wenger’s side sold them Chris Willock, and then entertained them for the Emirates Cup.
Hopefully that should’ve helped the two teams to build a relationship. We’ll see if Arsenal can take advantage.
