26-year-old Afriyie Acquah has admitted he dreams of playing for Arsenal however it is unlikely that the central midfielder will get his wish this summer.

Moving to Torino from Hoffenheim in 2015, the Ghanaian is under contract until 2019 but it seems as if he is looking for the exit door at the Serie A club.

So why won’t he make his dream a reality?

The right-footer wants a move, of that it is clear. But the standard of club interested in signing him rules out Arsenal moving for him during this window.

Speaking to ghanaweb.com, Acquah said, “In January, I was moving to Birmingham but later there were a lot of issues, so I couldn’t move.

“My dream is to play in England, so always I pray that one day, I get a chance to play there.

“I don’t have a favourite team I want to play for, but any club, even if it’s Chelsea or Arsenal.

“The team I like is Arsenal, so imagine me playing for them.”

Acquah was sponsored by a local side here in Belfast – Glentoran FC, a side I was raised to hate from I could talk. They are the Tottenham to my local team’s Arsenal.

Checking out this link a little further it seems like Acquah was linked with a move to Arsenal back in 2012 for £10m.

In 2007 he was described as a player who could become “more than Michael Essien or Patrick Viera.”

UK regulations stopped Acquah signing for Glentoran when he was 15, however he was snapped up by Palermo where he made 37 first team appearances before being sold to Hoffenheim for £2.25m in 2013 after a loan to Parma, where he was sent back on loan after joining the Germans.

Another loan, this time to Sampdoria, was followed by a permanent move to Torino in 2015 after failing to make a single senior appearance for Hoffenheim.

Last season he made just 22 Serie A appearances for the Italians, scoring one and assisting none.
