Danny Welbeck has been in top form since joining Arsenal from Manchester United in the summer with his confidence in front of goal much higher.
The £16M signing has relished playing in his favourite centre forward position since join the North London club, something that was hard to come by while at Old Trafford.
In an interview on the Official Arsenal website, Welbz started by acknowledging that change is inevitable and that there comes a time when one has to think about their next chapter in football.
He also revealed how difficult it was being played out of position at his former club:
“Over the past year or so, I started to think about what’s best for me because at the time I was playing on the left wing a lot and in a 4–4-2, which is very difficult for me because I can’t make an impact on the game.”
The 23-year old England international eventually chose to join Arsenal, a move that he claimed he had ‘envisaged’ before.
He also added that:
“It’s going well, it’s a great set up here and a really good environment to be in. All the players, the staff, everyone around the club – they have all welcomed me with open arms and that is very pleasing. I’m really grateful for that.”
Danny scored a brace during the international break against Slovenia and he’ll be hoping to be ‘Dat guy’ again as he faces his former team Manchester United on Saturday at The Emirates’.
