AS Roma striker Mattia Destro has expressed his enchantment at being linked with a move to The Emirates. With a decent record of 22 goals in 49 appearances and the January transfer window fast approaching, it comes as no surprise the Italian has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal.
According to Tuttosport, when put to question about the possible move to Arsenal the forward relished the moment stating:
“Arsenal for me? The rumours are good, I’m happy for them. This is the proof that I’m doing my work well.”
Despite his impressive goal tally, head coach Rudi Garcia prefers starting veteran Francesco Totti ahead of the 23-year old.
Destro however maintains he has a productive relationship with his coach, attributing his good performance to him:
“The coach encourages me a lot, he is teaching me some things, and I try to show my skills on the pitch, as well as the confidence he has in me.”
On the other hand Antonio Conte may regret leaving out Destro from the Italy squad that will play against Croatia in the EURO 2016 qualifier and Albania in an international friendly. This is because forward Mario Balotelli has been ruled out of both matches amid a hamstring and groin injury concern.
Regarding the rumours, Destro told Gazzetta dello Sport that he will make a decision on his future at the end of the season.
Olivier Giroud who just returned to full training on Friday will have to up his game a notch higher to make all these rumours go away.
